Robotics club gives students the outlet to explore academics in a non-traditional setting. It offers opportunities for the science-minded student to strengthen leadership skills, learn to cooperate with teammates, improve social interaction and improve work habits in other classes. In LCA's robotics club, students will design and build programmable robots, using high quality motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles, and other technical components. By using hands-on robotics, students will gain a better understanding of how technology works in a real world application. Students will understand and interpret two-dimensional drawings to create three-dimensional models; build, test, troubleshoot and revise designs to improve robot performance; and gain practical, hands-on experience using mathematical concepts such as estimating and measuring distance, time and speed.
