FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   What is LCA and why does it exist?

Founded in 1973, LCA is the oldest evangelical Christian school in the Lehigh Valley. It was founded in order to provide a thorough, complete, and consistently Christian education for the area’s Christian families. Over 200 students from around 60 churches attend classes in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Q:  Who governs LCA?

Three evangelical churches jointly operate and govern Lehigh Christian Academy. Representatives of each church form the Board of Directors, which sets policy, makes corporate commitments, and conducts hiring and firing.  The administration is the appointed executive and delegate of the Board. Administration establishes procedures and carries Board policy into effect.

Q:  Where is LCA located?

LCA meets at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church; 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, PA.  It is visible from Rt. 78 and Cedar Crest Blvd.

Q:  What about Pre-Kindergarten?

LCA offers both Full and Half-day Kindergarten.  Our Pre-K program is for children 4 years of age by September 1st of that particular school year. Busing is not available for Pre-K. Please note: LCA's Pre-K is not a daycare setting.

Q:  What is LCA’s stand on Common Core Standards?

LCA's curriculum is based on PA State Standards, not Common Core Standards.  LCA does not follow Common Core Standards.

Q:  What about transportation?

Fifteen school districts (Allentown (grades K-5), Bethlehem, Brandywine, Catasauqua, East Penn, Kutztown, Northampton, Northwestern Lehigh, Palisades, Parkland, Salisbury, Saucon Valley, Southern Lehigh, Upper Perkiomen, and Whitehall-Coplay) provide tax-paid busing for our students. Other districts may also be eligible.

Q:  Is LCA accredited?

Yes. We are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We are pleased that we were the first Christian school to gain this honor and also the first elementary school of any sort to receive this accreditation in Lehigh County. Our program has been reviewed by both a Christian organization and a general education association.

Q:  Are LCA teachers certified?

While private schools are not required by state law to hire certified teachers, all classroom teachers at LCA hold teaching certificates with the Association of Christian Schools International and a majority hold PA certifications.  The few that are not certified are highly qualified in their field.

Q:  How much does and education cost at LCA?
