What is LCA and why does it exist?

Founded in 1973, LCA is the oldest evangelical Christian school in the Lehigh Valley. It was founded in order to provide a thorough, complete, and consistently Christian education for the area’s Christian families. Over 200 students from around 60 churches attend classes in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Who governs LCA?

Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church is our host church. Our board of directors govern the school. The board of Directors, which sets policy, makes corporate commitments, and conducts hiring and dismissal. The administrator is the appointed executive and a delegate of the Board. Administration establishes procedures and carries out Board policy.

Where is LCA located?

LCA meets at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church; 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, PA.  It is visible from Rt. 78 and Cedar Crest Blvd.

What about Pre-Kindergarten?

LCA offers both Full and Half-day Kindergarten.  Our Pre-K program is for children 4 years of age by September 1st of that particular school year. Busing is not available for Pre-K. 

What is LCA’s stand on Common Core Standards?

LCA’s curriculum is based on PA State Standards, not Common Core Standards.

What about transportation?

Fifteen school districts (Allentown (grades K-5), Bethlehem, Brandywine, Catasauqua, East Penn, Kutztown, Northampton, Northwestern Lehigh, Palisades, Parkland, Salisbury, Saucon Valley, Southern Lehigh, Upper Perkiomen, and Whitehall-Coplay) provide tax-paid busing for our students. Other districts may also be eligible.

Is LCA accredited?

Yes. We are accredited K-12 by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We are pleased that we were the first Christian school to gain this honor and also the first elementary school of any sort to receive this accreditation in Lehigh County. Our program has been reviewed by both a Christian organization and a general education association.  Our High School program is currently in the process of being accredited by both organizations.

Are LCA teachers certified?

While private schools are not required by state law to hire certified teachers, all classroom teachers at LCA hold teaching certificates with the Association of Christian Schools International and a majority hold PA certifications.  The few that are not certified are highly qualified in their field.

How much does and education cost at LCA?

The tuition rates vary from year to year and also vary based on grade. Look under the admissions tab for our current tuition schedule.

Do you offer child care before or after school?

Yes, for a small fee students can go to Before School Care as early as 6:45AM or Aftercare which goes until 6:00PM.

Do older students have extracurricular activities?

Yes. We offer sports programs, music programs, clubs, student counsel, speech meet, spelling bees, to name a few.
